Named after the bus route that connects her suburb with the city, Ranui 135 continues Edith Amituanai's interest in photographing what is nearest to her.
The work follows on from The End of My Driveway (2011), a series generated by shooting from a tripod poised on the edge of the pavement outside her house. From this vantage she captured many uniform-clad local high school students on their way to and from school.
This time Amituanai left the driveway to venture out into the community to photograph local young people in a mobile portrait studio that she set up at events such as the Ranui Sunday School Ball and Ranui Neighbors Day Street BBQ.
